| Coventry Women at work in the 20th Century |
Description
|
The theme of ‘All in a Day’s Work’ is women at work in Coventry during the
twentieth century. Whether in a factory, an office, a workshop, in public
service or in the home, their contribution has always been significant. Many
worked hard all their lives to earn a living, both before and after marriage,
while continuing to run a home and bring up children. This book not only
looks at the jobs these women undertook, but the places in which they spent
their days. Factories such as Courtaulds, Bushill’s, GEC and many ribbon
weaving establishments no longer exist, but the experiences of the women
who worked in them should be preserved.
