We have received the following announcement from Coventry Archives:
Coventry Archives are pleased to report that we are reopening on Wednesday 5th of August – see link below:
https://www.theherbert.org/news/184/we_are_reopening
Following guidance provided by the Government and National Archives there are various new measurements that Coventry Archives will need to adopt. This will be to prevent any further spread of the Covid19 virus and will be reviewed over time and altered as guided. These measures will be as follows:
- Appointments will need to be booked for use of any computers/microfilm readers/tables and to view archive material in both the Reading/Research rooms of Coventry Archives. We are unable to guarantee a research space if you have not booked prior to your visit
- Appointments will be for shorter time periods of 2.5 hours max. Regretfully we are unable to accommodate researchers all day within Coventry Archives. Please specify an AM/PM time slot when booking
- Entrance to Coventry Archives will be through the Covered court area of the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum. When exiting you will be directed to use the fire exit at the end of the Reading room
- Only credit/debit card transactions can be taken for payment of any of our services
- Please make note of floor markers and keep your distance between yourself and other researchers when at either desk or by the public lockers
- Perspex screens will be installed at both desk areas for staff and your safety – it would be preferable if you are able to wear a face mask or covering especially in the research room as air conditioning is operating in this area
Events – we are looking at providing these remotely where feasible in future or through live streaming. Coventry Family History Society; because of these measures regretfully, we will have to stop the drop-in family history sessions for the time being. If you want to discuss this with me further then please contact me by return email
We look forward to seeing you all again at Coventry Archives in person very soon and thank you for your patience during this difficult period.
Yours sincerely,
Victoria Northridge
Archives Manager
