We are looking for your memories of VE Day 1945 to help celebrate the 75th Anniversary on Friday 8th May. It could be a photograph, or just a memory passed down, but it will build a story of what it was like and what people did on the day.
The photograph displayed on the ‘Home’ page has been received from one of our members, Jan Harris. It was of the Prince of Wales Road – Street Party, where everybody turned out.
The following is a memory from Evelyn Humphreys:
‘As I remember, I was on leave from the RAF. At the same time Winston Churchill made his speech, I was painting the French Windows for my mother. I recall that later in the afternoon, a neighbour rolled his piano into the street and we all brought food and had a fabulous party’
If you have a comment, memory or even a photograph, please contact us via the website as we would love to hear your stories.
