Hello Members, we hope you are all well in these trying times.
As actual meetings are not advised, we are setting up Virtual Meetings via Zoom in order to keep our social activities going. We will be sending invites out to our Members a few days before the event, but there are a couple of things you could do to be ready.
The first thing we ask is that you download Zoom on your device which has a camera installed. This is fairly straight forward as you only require the basic Zoom, so you do NOT need to pay. This will save time when you join our meeting. (You can download on the night, but this could mean you miss the start of the talk).
Google ‘Zoom’ and press the download and register with your name etc, and the machine will do the rest. It’s as simple as that and even I could do it.
We will send a link out via email with a time that you should click on this link to enter the talk with ‘video and audio’ on. We will then give access to you and you will see everybody that has joined in. Should you be connected to the site and not see or hear anybody, move your curser to the bottom left hand corner and click on the video and mute buttons to become live.
If you download the application but are not sure if it is working or not, you can contact me and we can test it out beforehand. Please contact me for assistance.
Two of our members joined another society’s talk this week and stated that it was just like a normal meeting.
We will treat the event like a normal meeting
- Some chat beforehand while people are “arriving”.
- Any announcements
- The talk
- Questions
We look forward to seeing you at our future events.
